Toast
Miss Averly tried some lightly toasted bread on Wednesday, September 22nd. It was her 1st “solid”, I guess you could say. She has been ready to eat steak & potatoes for a while now. Always reaching at our plates & grabbing any of our food that she can get her little hands on. So, I decided to let her try some bread. Her reaction was pretty amusing.
At first she wasn’t real sure what to do with it.

Then she decided it was alright & sucked on it for a while.
And wondered why I was taking her picture.

Then I guess she figured she would just chill for a while with it hanging out of her mouth.
She dropped some, picked it up with her sweet little fingers and…

…shoved it into her mouth!

So proud of herself for eating it on her own!

My Little Sponge
Ever since Riley turned 2, his vocabulary has literaly shot through the roof. I can’t even keep up with it all. He says things now that completely amaze me. Like the other day he said styrofoam. I mean, really? What the heck? Where does he even hear these things? Some other cute things he has been saying lately are as follows:
Don’t ask me where he heard it because we do not watch Cops, but my child was running around the house singing “Bad boys, bad boys…” a few nights ago. It absolutely blew my mind!
Last night my mom & I were sitting in my living room while Riley was back at our bedroom with TAG. He came running down the hall & into the room, said “Hi guys” then ran back to TAG.
When he’s getting ready to go to bed he gives us our kisses & says “Goodnight friends! Happy dreams!!”
Three questions that we hear repeatedly are “Hab it peesh?” (Can I have it, please?) “Hear dat?” “What dat?”
Riley loves being a pirate. He pretends that his climber is a pirate ship & he will stand at the wheel saying “Arrr matey!” He even crinkles his little nose up, snarling. Precious.
As I was cutting Averly’s fingernails, Riley held his hand up & said “FingerSnails!” He cracks me up!
While we were at the lake last weekend I was changing his diaper on the bed & apparently the ceiling fan light was too bright for him because he kept saying “Sun in eyes, Mama!”
He is quite the safety monkey, as TAG says, when we are riding. He is always hollering for us to “slow down!”
Riley got his hands on a whistle a couple days ago. He walks around thinking he is something big tooting it too. Only he doesn’t blow in it—he holds it up to his mouth & screams in an as high-pitched squeal as he can. We have tried over & over to show him how to just blow in it, but it does no good.
If he loves on Averly a little too hard or knocks something over or does something he knows he’s not supposed to, he will say “Sowwy...didn't mean to.”
When deciding which snack he wants or what movie he wants to watch, he’ll say “Bout dis one?” Such a little man!
He sounds a lot like Yoda when he says a full sentence. For example-“dry off, me”, “get down, me” “hab it, me, peesh?”
And my favorite thing to hear coming out of his sweet mouth… “Love you Mama! Love you Dada! Love you Avyyy!” (Averly)

His brain is such a sponge! He doesn’t forget anything & is as smart as ever! Oh how I love my Riley Roo!

‘O Raghallaigh Muintu
Last weekend my family had a little get-together with my dad’s side of the family at the lake house. Since we are Irish, we decided to do an Irish theme for the weekend. It was so much fun to see everyone. With our busy schedules & living a couple hours away from each other, it’s hard to meet up very often. My parents, the kids, & I went down on Thursday to get some things ready & just hang out for a while before everyone got there.
I just adore this picture of my babies playing together.

We Riley & Brooke swam a little. The water was too cold for me!

Then Riley rode in his Bubba’s boat for the first time. He was so excited about it until a big boat put in right next to us on the ramp. The loud motor scared him to death & then he wanted out. Once we got going though, he calmed down & relaxed a little. Actually, he about fell asleep he was so relaxed!
This was just on the ramp, don’t worry he had a life jacket on the rest of the time!
See? And Buzz was along for the ride as well.

After our little boat ride everyone started arriving. Here is Averly & Ruby Clare meeting again.

How precious are those cowboy boots?! My sister got them for him. They are still a couple sizes too big, but Riley loves them!
TAG finally made it!

“Our branches reach high into heaven, while it’s roots dig deep into the earth. Yet all are woven together, signifying the connection between all things in heaven and the earth.” The Celtic Tree of Life.

Averly didn’t have her shirt on yet, but she did have one!

Riley & TAG playing football. Haha!

Too bad the sun was in TAG’s eyes :0(. It would’ve been a decent family picture. That & if Riley was looking at the camera.

Game time!
Potato Toss.

We had a costume contest Saturday night. Riley was a Leprechaun.

My mom & sister.
Dad & I.

Yummy, yummy food!

My pretty girl on Sunday morning.

The passing of the torch. We vote for the most spirited at the end & Jamie won this year. Riley won last year, so he got to pass on the perpetual prize—a troll trophy that we will add to each year. This year we added Shamrocks.
My dad & I ended the trip with a quick motorcycle ride.
What a fun time! I’m already looking forward to seeing everyone again!
