Catching Up

First of all, thank y'all so much for the Happy Anniversary wishes & Congrats on our baby girl! It really means a lot. We are definitely excited & I can't wait to see how Riley is as a big brother. I know he will love that little girl so much. Plus, she's going to have Daddy wrapped around her little finger for sure. :0) So here's a little catching up as far as what's been going on the last week or so.

As you know, Wednesday was our 3 year anniversary. We just went out to eat the night before at Kyoto to celebrate. It was a great date with my man! I didn't bring my camera but we enjoyed a nice, quiet meal together. We planned on going to watch a movie afterwards, but nothing was showing that we really wanted to see, so we got a $1 movie rental & called it a night! Can't beat that!

Below is my 17 week, 2 day picture.

Since we were going to meet my parents after the ultrasound, I wanted to try to get creative in the way that we told them what the baby was. Last minute I thought of this idea. It wasn't the fanciest of all things, but it was a good surprise.

I baked 2 Gingerbread boy/girl cookies & colored the icing blue for one & pink for the other. We carried both of them with us to the ultrasound & then let them open the one that it was when we met them at supper. Had I thought of this prior to 1 hour before leaving, I would have gotten cute little boxes or something to put them in, but since I didn't aluminum foil had to do.

On the count of 3, we handed them the appropriate cookie & had them unwrap it. I think I captured their reaction pretty well! They are so excited to have both a grandson & soon a granddaughter!

The closest thing we got to a family photo that day! Haha! Riley wanted to eat the cookie, but wasn't quite sure about the sticky icing.

Thursday night Riley woke up with a fever of 102.8, runny nose, & nasty cough. First thing Friday morning I took him to the doctor who tested him for the flu. The test came back negative, but he had flu-like symptoms so he went ahead & prescribed him Tamiflu. Since I'm pregnant he recommended that I contact my doctor to be put on it as well. This makes the 2nd time in 1 month that I have been on Tamiflu. Anyway, my poor baby seemed to progressively get worse as the fever climbed up to 104 on Saturday. Tylenol & Motrin just didn't bring it down much--only to 103.5. I was scared to death & wanted to take him back to the doctor, but once I gave him a cool sponge bath it brought the fever down to around 101.

Needless to say, we haven't gotten much sleep the past few days but Riley does seem to be doing a little better today. The doctor said if he isn't doing much better by tomorrow to bring him in again. We'll see how the rest of the day & night goes tonight, but I just pray my angel baby is over this!

Here he is at the doctor's office. Poor baby.

Saturday morning we got up & headed to the pumpkin patch. We got there right as they opened at 10:00 in hopes of beating the crowd. And we did for the most part! The weather was beautiful & Riley had a blast. It was a perfect day!
