After reading his bedtime story & saying his prayers a few nights ago, he said “Tell me a story, pwease.” I said we just read a story. And he said, “No, one dat starts yike dis "’once upon a time’…”
Averly was upset & crying about something & Riley said, “Sing dis for her 'twinkle twinkle little star...’ It makes her happy!”
While riding in the car, I was singing along with the radio & Riley said, “Keep singing, Mama! You make me happy!”
A few weeks ago we were visiting TAG’s sister & her husband & Riley decided he wanted to stay a few days with them after we left. He has stayed at my parents’ house overnight a lot but never anywhere else so I didn’t know if he would actually do it or not. He was fine with telling me bye & seeing me leave but he did not want Averly away from him! First he started kinda whining, saying “Don’t take my sis-ser. She has to stay wit me.” Then he got a little angry when we didn’t honor his request! He would say "You are NOT going to take my sis-ser!" With a mad face & all. It was sweet that he didn’t want to be without her but he has to learn to be on his own some too. We also have issues with this at the church nursery. He is in a different class than Averly & cries every time we drop him off. They have to take him down the hall to see her & then he’s ok for a little while. Bless his heart! Hopefully he will be this protective of her when they are in high school!
He has developed quite the attitude lately, too. I told him to pick his toys up before pulling out something else & he told me no. I got on to him & said I am the mom, here. Without skipping a beat, he said, "And I am da big boy, here."
Another time to my mom he said, "Give me some juice!" She told him to ask nicely. He said, "Can you give me some juice please? Quession mark?"
Despite him thinking he’s all grown up at times, he is still a sweetie pie. He loves to pick me flowers & says "For you, Mama!" It makes my day every time.
If he thinks he deserves a prize (for whatever reason) he will say, “I wanna tell you a sweequet.” Then come whisper in my ear what he “needs” as a prize. Usually it’s either candy or bubbles.
We are currently working on memorizing the Pledge of Allegiance & {some for now of} The Ten Commandments. It’s harder than I thought it would be. He is also really into dressing himself these days. I never thought a boy would be so opinionated about his outfit but he wants to wear what he wants to wear!
Even though I don’t feel like it’s possible to love him any more than I do now, I somehow love this little boy more every day!

Aww, he really says "question mark" ?? Hahaha
